Dukes boys soccer moved to 4-1 Monday, traveling to Kirtland High School and coming home with a 4-0 win.
It was the fourth shutout this season and a needed rebound after the team fell 6-4 to Fairview on Sept. 6.
Wellington has outscored its opponents this year by a 26-6 margin with senior captain Cole McLean leading the offensive attack with 11 goals, which is also tops in Division III of the Greater Cleveland District.
Junior Cameron Lara’s eight assists are also setting the pace in the district.
Coach Andrew Lara attributes the team’s stifling defense to the play of senior captain Andrew Dooley and junior goalkeeper Steven Del Campo.
Next up for the Dukes is an away match at Buckeye at 5 p.m. Thursday followed by a return home to face Keystone at 10 a.m. Saturday.
