The Lady Dukes won a four-game set Tuesday against to the Oberlin Phoenix.
Oberlin capitalized on strong serving by freshman Courty Robinson but Wellington battled back into the game, cutting the Phoenix lead to 13-11.
Wellington did not give up and tied the game 18-18 but could not hold off Oberlin, which took the lead and the set 25-21.
The Lady Dukes bounced back in the second set with the help of seniors McKenzie Wilson and Sami White at the net. They combined for 13 kills and six blocks on the night.
Oberlin nearly won the set before Wellington’s spikers took over and sealed a 26-24 win in the second set and a 25-20 win in the third.
The girls combined for 23 kills on the night and 16 aces on the night.
The Lady Dukes held a strong lead over the Lady Phoenix in the fourth set and sealed the win with a 25-18 victory in the final set.
Wellington will host the Buckeye Bucks at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
