To the editor:
One of the most important-and overlooked-aspects of education is having mentors who help you manage the grind of daily struggles and the challenges of life.
I have been away from Wellington for many years and many won’t know this, but Ayers Ratliff, although I haven’t laid eyes on him or talked with him since I was a small boy, had the most impact on my success as a human being and productive adult than anyone I’ve ever met, and he doesn’t even know it.
Particularly, now in my life years later, I see that what he taught me as a boy, he still actively has the exact same values and is still educating! That is so rewarding to know.
I salute Ayers Ratliff and hand him the Greatest Human Being I’ve Ever Met Award!
