Safety Town gave soon-to-be-kindergartners a few lessons Tuesday morning at the auxiliary police station on Kelly Street. About 20 children who are registered for kindergarten in the Wellington Schools took part. Police Lt. Jeff Shelton has been leading the program for the past 15 years. This is the first year Lorain County sheriff’s D.A.R.E. officer Tony Kovacs assisted with the instruction. They partnered to talk about the rules of the road, stranger danger, gun safety, bike safety, and more. Graduation will be at noon Friday where the children will receive completion certificates. Village Market is donating cookies and Wellington Party Center is donating pop for the ceremony.
