Jaxon “Jax” Flynn, one of two toddlers found unconscious in a pool at a Pittsfield Township daycare center Oct. 5, is slowly improving at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.

He’s expected to make a full recovery, according to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.

His cousin, Annie Flynn, was pronounced dead at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin the day of the incident. Jaxon was initially in critical condition.

Jaxon is 23 months old and Annie was 22 months old.

A benefit dinner for the family was held Sunday at the Wellington Eagles Post 2051, featuring raffles and carnival games. Seven large baskets were filled with donations according to those in attendance.

Wellington firefighters were first on the scene at 10:32 a.m. the day of the deadly incident, with sheriff’s deputies arriving shortly thereafter.

No foul play is suspected, but an investigation regarding the licensing of the daycare center and security of a fence surrounding the pool will be reviewed by the Lorain County prosecutor’s office.
