A bronze award for traffic safety efforts has been given to Wellington’s police officers by AAA East Central.
The village is one of 43 Ohio communities to earn platinum, gold, silver, or bronze recognition.
“We are honored to recognize these local departments for their efforts in the Community Traffic Safety Program,” said safety advisor Lori Cook. “Each organization has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make their community a safer place for motorists and residents.”
Nearby, the Huron County Sheriff’s Office and Westlake police were among the “commendable leaders” to receive AAA’s highest safety rating. Elyria received a gold award and silver went to Avon Lake and North Ridgeville.
Bronze put Wellington police in the company of such other departments as Brecksville, Pepper Pike, Wickliffe, and Willard. Lorain was given a commendation.
