The body of a 38-year-old Wellington man found in a pool of blood has kicked off a police investigation.
Jerome Campbell was found dead at 1:31 a.m. last Thursday in his bedroom, according to a police report.
Campbell’s roommate called Wellington officers after finding the man in his bed.
Police said the roommate last saw Campbell on Tuesday, July 7 in his North Walden Lane apartment and checked on Campbell when he returned home from work.
Campbell was known for having pain management issues and had prescriptions for fentanyl and oxycodone, the report stated.
The roommate told Wellington police he took Campbell to Fisher-Titus Hospital on July 6 for hip pain, where he was given a shot of morphine.
Officers found an unopened box of fentanyl in the apartment and an open box with patches but police did not find any oxycodone.
Wellington police did not find any signs of suicide, according to the report.
The Lorain County coroner’s office is expected to receive test results back within four weeks giving more insight into how Campbell died.
