A semi truck carrying steel coils spilled its load around 1:15 p.m. Monday near the corner of South Main and 4th streets. No one was hurt in the incident. Wellington police Lt. Jeff Shelton said the spill was caused by a snapped band on the truck. “He was slowing down for traffic and the bands broke on his load,” he said. “He was hauling five rolls of steel. Each roll is 9,000 pounds. Everybody is OK. It came through the trailer and dented up the sleeper. It didn’t puncture into the interior, though.” Dunlap Towing was called to remove the steel coils, the only company in the area with trucks properly equipped to do so.
