A 25-year-old woman was pinned under her vehicle Sunday at 19204 Pitts Rd. in Wellington Township.
Elyse Kurianowicz of Wellington swerved off the left side of the road around 8:11 p.m. and overturned her Ford Focus.
Ohio State Highway Patrol said Kurianowicz was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
“Ms. Kurianowicz landed outside the roadway and the car landed on top of her,” an OSHP statement said. Troopers closed the road for nearly an hour to investigate the scene.
“It took us about 11 to 12 minutes to get the vehicle off her,” said Wellington assistant fire chief Bill Brown. “From her waist down was under the vehicle. She was conscious and breathing.”
He said firefighters had to use air bags and the jaws of life to lift up the vehicle and get Kurianowicz out. She suffered serious injuries and was flown from the scene by Metro Life Flight.
The OSHP said Kurianowicz was alone in the car and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors.
The crash is under investigation.
