Exotic animals were greeted by dozens of smiling faces Thursday at the Herrick Memorial Library. Leah Owens of the Akron Zoo brought the zoo mobile as part of the children’s summer reading program. She gave a presentation about animals and the special adaptations they have that give them similar characteristics as superheros like the Flash and Wolverine. Kids were introduced to three animals including Steve the bearded dragon, Hobart the sugar glider, and Tank the Indian star tortoise. Superheroes are the theme of this year’s reading program at the library.
