Wellington’s Discount Drug Mart received the Efficiency Smart’s Ambassador of Energy Efficiency Award on Friday.

The store completed an LED lighting upgrade expected to save the company 123,700 kilowatt-hours of energy — that’s $11,100 per year and more than $122,900 for the lifetime of the installation.

Drug Mart worked with an Efficiency Smart energy consultant and account manager for technical project assistance and to verify savings potential. These resources were made possible through a partnership between Efficiency Smart and the village of Wellington, designed to save Wellington utility electric customers money through energy efficiency.

“On behalf of Discount Drug Mart, we are very proud and honored to accept the Efficiency Smart Ambassador of Energy Efficiency Award here in Wellington,” said David Boodjeh, director of operations for Discount Drug Mart. “Our goal is to reduce energy consumption and to be as energy efficient as possible at all of our locations.”

“We are delighted to recognize Discount Drug Mart for making energy-efficient upgrades,” said David Cawley, director of Efficiency Smart. “These projects showcase its strong vision and commitment to reducing energy use and saving money, and the company will enjoy the benefits of energy efficiency both today and for years to come.”
