Two cars collided Thursday night in a minor crash at the corner of Rt. 18 and Pitts Road in Wellington Township.

Wellington firefighters to the crash at 10:07 p.m. The vehicles involved were a silver Ford F150 pick-up tuck and a white Dodge Caravan, according to a WFD report.

Sgt. Tim Hoffman with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said John Tisler, 61, of Lorain, was driving the Caravan and beside him in the passenger’s seat was Cheri Page, 66, of Lorain.

In the pick-up truck was Stephen Pycraft, 31, of Wellington, and in a child safety seat next to him was two-year-old Barrett Pycraft.

All those involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the wreck.

Hoffman said Tisler was traveling south on Pitts Road and made a left turn to go east on Rt. 18. Pycraft was traveling west on Rt. 18.

That’s when Tisler failed to yield and went into Pycraft’s path. Hoffman said Tisler was issued a ticket for failure to yield at the stop sign.

The pick-up endured minor damage while the Caravan experienced functional damage. Functional damage doesn’t necessarily prevent the car from being driven but all of its parts may not be in working order.

Tisler and Page were taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin, according to Wellington fire chief Mike Wetherbee. Hoffman said both had non-incapacitating injuries such as bumps and bruises.

Pycraft signed off for himself and Barrett and neither was transported to the hospital.
