A gunman remains at large after an NN Corp employee was shot Saturday morning.
Wellington police responded to the incident at 3:51 a.m. at the company’s 125 Bennett St. property, where the employee was reporting for work.
Possible motivations for the shooting remain unknown, said police chief Tim Barfield.
“Pretty much all we have for certain right now — and it’s not a lot — is a victim who says he doesn’t know why he was shot,” he said. “We’re trying to make sure he wasn’t targeted. We don’t know if it was a robbery, if he was targeted, or what led up to him being shot at this point.”
The victim’s name has not been made available. He was wounded once in the right shoulder and flown by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where he was listed in stable condition.
The suspected shooter is believed to be male and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident. Police say he ran north toward West Herrick Cemetery after the incident.
