Boys bowling team close to conference championship

The Wellington Dukes boys bowling team has a 10-1 record on the season. Last night, they went up against Elyria Catholic; their biggest conference rival North Ridgeville, who has a perfect 11-0 record, went up against Firelands.

Both Wellington and North Ridgeville were projected to beat their opponents, and if they did, then there will be a roll off for conference champion.

Practically anyone on either of the teams could come out high scoring so it's tough to say, but one bowler seems to be a standout this season carrying a 221 average. Collin Oliva, for the second year in a row stands near the top of the conference in average. Zach Vermillion and Kevin Saunders with the Dukes have the highest averages on the team, with 197 and 193 respectively.

The Dukes have progressed a lot in the past few weeks of bowling. North Ridgeville is an outstanding team as always. The Dukes hope to come up with a big upset. The Dukes, in the four previous years that they have been in the conference, have never beaten this team.

The Dukes have been bowling with each other for years. They are comfortable with each other and have great team chemistry. They each have great attitudes and will step up to the challenge of North Ridgeville. This should be the most interesting match of the season.
