Police Blotter for Jan. 12
* Dec. 3, 2:13 p.m.: Officer Shelton met with a man at the station in reference to a theft from the bed of his truck. The man said he had two eight-foot tables in his truck which were missing. There are no suspects at this time.
* Dec. 4, 9:58 a.m.: Officer Smosny was dispatched to Bennett Street in reference to a report of property damage. Upon arrival the officer met with a man who said his soon-to-be ex-wife came to his home and began pounding on his door. An argument ensued and his wife put her hand through the window of the door causing it to break. The man wished to pursue charges for criminal damage. Melanie A. Glavich of LaGrange was charged.
* Dec. 4, 10:35 p.m.: Officer Provoznik observed a 14-year-old juvenile out after curfew. Prior to entering the rear of the cruiser to be taken home, the juvenile was asked if he had anything in his pockets. Police found a pipe with residue and a baggie containing a green leafy substance that he claimed was marijuana. The juvenile was taken to the WPD where he was charged with curfew violation, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
* Dec. 5, 6:12 p.m.: Police were dispatched to the parking lot of McDonald's in reference to someone wanting to commit suicide. Upon arrival the person was observed to be on the pay phone crying and asking for help. He was taken to the Oberlin hospital by ambulance for evaluation.
* Dec. 5, 6:42 p.m.: Officer R. Aviles was dispatched to Middle Street in reference to vandalism to a vehicle. The officer met with the homeowner who stated there was toilet paper, chocolate syrup, bologna and Crisco shortening all over the exterior of the vehicle. The owner was advised to call the department after the vehicle had been cleaned to report any damage to the vehicle itself.
* Dec. 7, 6:25 p.m. Officer A. Aviles met with a man in reference to an alleged theft of his laptop computer from his vehicle. Further investigation revealed no damage to his vehicle and there are no suspects at this time. Value of the computer is $750.
* Dec. 7, 10:20 p.m.: Robin Wieder of LaGrange was issued a citation for driving under an FRA suspension first offense.
* Dec. 7, 12:26 p.m.: A woman advised Officer Shelton her husband's ex-wife and her new husband are harassing her by phone. The woman will collect more information and was advised to return to see the officer.
* Dec. 8, 7:31 p.m.: Officer A. Aviles met with a Barker Street resident in reference to an attempted breaking and entering. The homeowner advised that he had about five tires stacked in front of the garage door. He noticed the tires had pushed away from the door.
* Dec. 9, 4:47 p.m.: Police were dispatched to a North Mill Street residence in reference to a man stating he needed to leave or he was going to hurt somebody. The juvenile said his father was just released from jail and arrived home drunk with an uncle. The two then began trash talking the juvenile who became upset. After the father and uncle left the teenager called police. The officers spoke with the juvenile prior to charging him with unruly juvenile and transporting him to the Lorain County Turning Point.
* Dec. 13, 4:10 p.m.: A woman came to the station in reference to a threat complaint. The woman provided a written statement in which she said a man threatened her with a gun. However, what she described in her statement and what she told police differed. She insisted a report be taken but declined to pursue any charges.
* Dec. 13, 2:52 p.m.: Brittany M. Baker of Elyria was picked up on a warrant through the Sheffield Police Department. Baker was transported and released to an officer from the Sheffield Police Department.
* Dec. 13, 6:50 p.m.: Officer Carter transported Christopher Wilfong of New London from the Avon Police Department to the Lorain County Jail. Wilfong has an active warrant for his arrest through the Oberlin Municipal Court.
* Dec. 13, 9:42 p.m.: Police responded to Dickson Street in reference to a person talking about committing suicide. The officers were able to talk their way into the apartment where they learned the man was thinking about hurting himself. The man said he was being evicted, had a bad job and had no way to live on $800 a month. The man agreed to get assistance from the Nord Center to deal with his crisis prior to being transported to the hospital.
* Dec. 17, 4:57 p.m.: A woman reported she has had problems with her ex-boyfriend for the past two years. She stated that he is harassing and stalking her, sexually propositioning her and sending her text messages with pictures of his genitals. Contact was made with the man and he was informed not to have any contact by phone, letter, or through a family member or in person or charges could be pursued.
* Dec. 18, 1:44 a.m.: A woman came to the police department to file a police report. A check of her record revealed she had an active warrant through the Amherst Police Department for passing bad checks. Ronnah S. Taylor of LaGrange was transported to the Oberlin Police Department where she was picked up by the Amherst Police Department.
