Mary Florence Taylor
Mary Florence Taylor, 92, of Wellington, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at Elm's Retirement Village.
She was born Jan. 2, 1918 in Gates Mills, Ohio, to Theadore Henry and Ruth Sink McKay Haberecht. She was the youngest of five with three brothers, Edgar, Ted and Carl and her sister, Ruth Helen. Her father had a store in Gates Mills where her childhood was spent before moving to a farm in Westfield Center, Ohio.
Mrs. Taylor graduated high school in 1936. She met her husband-to-be Willys Wright Taylor, who had a milk route and picked up their dairy milk from their farm. Willys and Mary were married on Sept. 27, 1941 in Medina.
Willys "Slim" and Mary were blessed with one son, Richard Taylor born Sept. 1, 1956, who passed away Nov. 15, 1981, at age 25. Slim and Mary were married 60 years until Slim's death on Feb. 1, 2002.
In 1944 Mary and Willys "Slim" moved, along with his parents, to a farm they purchased in Penfield. She lived on the farm until recent years when she moved to the Elm's Retirement Village Assisted Living in Wellington.
Mrs. Taylor was active with the Penfield Women's Club and attended Penfield Community Church. Her other interests were family, farm, counted cross stitch and sewing.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Penfield Cemetery with Mike Smith officiating. Condolences may be expressed at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
