Zieglers celebrate 50th anniversary

Glenn and Beverly Ziegler of Wellington will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 21, 2009. They were married on Aug. 15, 1959 at Bev's home in Oberlin.

Mr. Ziegler grew up in Brighton Township and graduated from Brighton High School in 1952. He was in the Army for two years, stationed in Ft. Louis and Washington state. He then returned to Wellington to pursue his life's work as a farmer. Mr. Ziegler is involved in the Farm Bureau, where he served as president for four years. He has also spent 25 years as an elder at the Amherst Church of Christ and 30 years as a Brighton Township trustee and board member of the Southern Lorain County Ambulance District.

Mrs. Ziegler attended high school in Cleveland and Oberlin, graduating from Oberlin High School in 1954. She then attended Ohio Wesleyan College. She worked at Ben Franklin and American Greetings. Currently, she is a member of the Farm Bureau and is actively involved in the Amherst Church of Christ, serving as a bible class teacher. She has also been the support group facilitator for Alzheimer's for the past 15 years.

The couple have four children; Kevin (Barb) Ziegler, Ken (Candi) Ziegler, Keith (Pam) Ziegler, and Melody (Tim) Davis. They also have eight grandchildren.

All are invited to a dessert open house to honor their 50 years of marriage, given by the couple's children and grandchildren on Friday, Aug. 21 at the Pittsfield Town Hall on State Route 58 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. In lieu of gifts, a contribution may be given to We Care We Share, c/o Amherst Church of Christ, 591 Washington Ave., Amherst, Ohio 44001.
