The Pirates edged the Falcons 27-25 on Friday, holding on despite a late 19-yard pass from Firelands’ Michael Bensek to Garrett Tester for a touchdown. Black River struck first with unanswered touchdowns by Jacob Campbell and Riley Gibbs, but Firelands answered back on a TD and field goal by Landon and Luke Peterson and a 16-yard run by Nick Denney to score. Gibbs caught an 11-yarder from Riley Bartolic to put the game away despite a failed two-point conversion attempt.
