The postseason run has ended for the Black River Pirates, who were handed a 30-0 shutout loss Saturday by the Central Catholic Fighting Irish (Toledo). Braydan Knarr was named an honorary captain for the game. The young boy, who has been diagnosed with type one diabetes, is a big fan of Pirates senior Curtis Roupe, who played this season at middle linebacker. Black River ended the 2016 season at 8-4, 3-2 in the Patriot Athletic Conference. According to PAC stats, Riley Gibbs led the Pirates in rushing yards this year with 708 on 61 carries. Quarterback Mike Hazlett completed 25 of 55 passes for 414 yards and four touchdowns. His go-to receiver was Jacob Campbell, who averaged 22.6 yards per catch.
