The Dukes took down their Patriot Athletic Conference rivals, the Black River Pirates,49-45 on Tuesday.

Wellington outscored Black River 18-10 in the first period. The Pirates locked down the Dukes to just eight points before halftime to cut the lead to 26-23.

The Pirates inched their way closer at the start of the second half, cutting Wellington’s lead down to two points going into the final quarter.

Josh Kindel and Trey Bealer were determined to give their team the win and combined for 32 points to defeat the Pirates. Black River was led by Allan Benson with 17 points on the night.
