Lady Pirates seal first PAC win over Phoenix, 53-37

A 30-point second half Wednesday guaranteed the Lady Pirates their first Patriot Athletic Conference win over the Phoenix.

Black River opened up its one-point lead over Oberlin after the first quarter. The Lady Pirates sank 15-to the Lady Phoenix’s eight before halftime, giving Black River a 23-15 lead.

Oberlin’s offense came out strong in the third quarter with 12 points but the girls could not slow down Black River as they outscored the Lady Phoenix by one point in the period.

Cameron Payne led the Lady Phoenix with 12 points on the night.

Black River’s Emily Zumack and Bailey Scheck combined for 34 points. The duo helped their team make 17 points in the final quarter and hold Oberlin to 10 points to secure a 53-37 victory.
