Strong offensive play through four quarters last Wednesday secured the Lady Falcons a 68-41 win over the Black River Pirates.
Led by Keely Hall, who had 22 points and 10 rebounds on the night, Firelands scored more than 15 points in each period, also holding Black River to fewer than 15.
The Falcons jumped to an early 18-7 lead for the Pirates after the first quarter. Black River secured 15 more points before halftime but could not stop Firelands from matching each point, making it 33-22 at the end of the second quarter.
The Lady Falcons offensive took off in the third with 19 points to the Pirates’ seven. In the final period, Black River attempted to make a run to cut the Firelands lead but fell short, scoring just 12 points to the Falcons 16.
Emily Zumack, Hannah Heath, and Bailey Scheck combined for 25 points for the Pirates, while Firelands’ Kayla Unger, Dalaney Rogala, and Kaitlyn Michener combined for 36 points on the night.
Firelands improved to 6-1 in the Patriot Athletic Conference and Black River fell to 0-6 in the conference.
