The Wellington Dukes lost Friday’s season opener 63-54 to the Oberlin Phoenix. The Dukes trailed at 34-23 halftime and could not overcome the Phoenix’s quick play in the second half. Wellington overcame a 16-point deficit in the second half Saturday to tie the New London Wildcats with two minutes to play. A couple of big plays by the Wildcats at the end of the game secured the 64-60 win. The Dukes will host the Brooklyn Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for their home opener.
