The Lady Dukes could not overcome a strong second half performance Saturday by the Brooklyn Hurricanes.

The girls held Brooklyn scoreless at halftime but the Hurricanes offense erupted in the second half and finished two shots.

Brooklyn’s Emma Clemence and Leigh Eperjese each scored and with the help of goalkeeper Becky Crossman, who stopped 10 shots as the Hurricanes held onto the win.

Wellington fell to 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in the Patriot Athletic Conference.

The Lady Dukes earned their first Patriot Athletic Conference win last Wednesday against the Oberlin Phoenix.

Wellington jumped to a 2-0 lead at halftime and girls had an outstanding second half, locking down Oberlin’s offense to seal a 5-0 victory.

The girls had 25 shots on goal.

Sophomores Emma Horoschak, Faith Alley, and Victoria Horoschak each scored a goal and junior Sam Sparks finished two more shots to give their team the win.

The Lady Dukes will host the Buckeye Bucks at 1 p.m. Saturday.
