Businesses support office on aging

To the editor:

I would like to express our sincere thanks to local establishments for their continued support of our volunteers.

We would not be able to provide all of the wonderful services/programs that we offer to the seniors in our area without these wonderful folks. The volunteers may drive the bus, dispatch for the bus, deliver Meals on Wheels, fold and prepare newsletters, organize the monthly Golden-Ager luncheons, call bingo, or provide other varied services. It is hard for others to believe that all of our volunteers never receive a penny for what they do. They all are willing to take time out of their busy schedules to make sure that our seniors can maintain their independence.

Although these folks don’t expect anything in return for the time they donate, I think it is only proper to let them know in some small way that we are extremely grateful for their ongoing support, thus our annual Volunteer Recognition! This year many of our local businesses have gladly donated free coupons and certificates from their establishments in support of this very generous spirit of volunteerism. I would like to thank our friends at Burger King, Dairy Queen, Domino’s, Farmer’s Savings, Lormet, Mickey Mart, Taco Bell, Subway, and Village Market. Their ongoing support is greatly appreciated and serves to reinforce the importance of taking care of our seniors.
