To the editor:
For over 20 years, the Elms Retirement Village has invited local children to trick-or-treat throughout their community. The event on Oct. 29 was just as fun for the residents and staff as it was for the costumed families who paraded through the halls.
This year, there was an exceptionally large turnout of families who consumed 120 hot dogs, 180 juice boxes, 130 bags of chips, and double the amount of candy in years past! The higher attendance may have been due to additional advertising in the school, or possibly because of the milder weather. Regardless, great fun was had by all!
We’re also thrilled that the following businesses helped by donating candy and many volunteered time to assist residents with passing out candy: Bliss Therapeutic Massage, Brother’s Chevrolet, Colonial Barber, Creating Balance with Wellness & Lifestyle, Farm and Home Hardware, Rock Island Band, Special Effects Printing, Wellington Country Inn, and Wellington Music.
We hope more people and businesses will join in next year!
