Wellington police reports


• Dec. 28 at 7:48 p.m.: A Courtland Street resident reported the theft of a 55-inch flat screen television and XBox game console from his apartment.

• Dec. 29 at 12:23 p.m.: Lorain County sheriff’s deputies called for assistance with a case involving improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

• Dec. 29 at 2:13 p.m.: Police were called to Bennett Street for a burglary complaint.

• Dec. 30 at 2:07 p.m.: During a traffic stop, police charged a minor with curfew violation and driving with a temporary instruction permit. Another minor was charged with a curfew violation.

• Dec. 31 at 4:15 p.m.: Police are investigating the theft of $200 from the Certified Gas Station on West Herrick Avenue.

• Jan. 1 at 4:03 a.m.: Officers responded to North Walden Lane for a criminal damaging complaint involving a vehicle.

•Jan. 2 at 2:30 a.m.: Police called to South Mill Street home for a reportedly suicidal, intoxicated male.

• Jan. 3 at 12:13 a.m.: Joshua Henley, 35, of Wellington, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated on Barker Street.

• Jan. 3 at 8:26 a.m.: A Bennett Street resident reported stolen carpet installation tools from his home.

• Jan. 4, 2:38 p.m.: A 14-year-old walking home from school was asked to get into a stranger’s car.

• Jan. 4 at 6:19 p.m.: A cell phone was stolen from Cellular Central. The suspect was in his 40s.

• Jan. 5 at 1:48 a.m.: A Parkside Reserve Street resident made a belated theft report.

• Jan. 6 at 3:08 p.m.: Police responded to a call for a deceased person on Forest Street. The deceased had numerous medical issues and the body was released to the funeral home.

• Jan. 7 at 8:15 a.m.: Officers responded to a possible weapons violation at Wellington High School. They received a phone call the night before from a parent of a student, who said their child knew another student was carrying a knife. Police referred the 16-year-old to juvenile court.

• Jan. 8 at 8:02 a.m.: Money was reported stolen on McCormick Street.

• Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.: Daniel Miller, 33, of Wellington, was placed into custody on an outstanding warrant through the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office.

• Jan. 9 at 8 p.m.: Police met with a father regarding his unruly son.

• Jan. 12 at 3:36 a.m: Police responded to the Vine Street area for report of a deceased male, Tyler Land, 30, of Wellington within a car.

• Jan. 12 at 8:01 a.m.: On a home visit, a parole officer found evidence of a crime. Carter Smith, 19, of Wellington, was charged with drug abuse instruments and possession of heroin.

• Jan. 12 at 6:12 p.m.: A driver’s side door window was smashed. The van had been parked outside Norton-Eastman Funeral Home on South Main Street.

• Jan. 12 at 6:16 p.m.: A theft from a vehicle was reported at Inner Circle Fitness Center on South Main St.

• Jan. 12 at 8:50 p.m.: A purse was stolen from an unlocked Jeep parked at the Norton-Eastman Funeral Home on South Main Street.

• Jan 14 at 10:28 p.m.: Cory Lee Martin, 20, of Wellington; Timothy Dannes, 21, of Elyria; and Adam Postelwait, 22, of Wellington were charged with assault.
