The old soccer storage shed at the Wellington rec park will soon become a concession and announcer’s stand.

The village baseball field won’t be ready until 2017 and when it is, Community Park will have a concession stand and announcer’s box.

Maintenance workers plan to remodel an old soccer storage building. “We’re going to move it a few feet and eventually build a new one for the soccer field,” said Bob Brasee, Wellington public works superintendent.

For now, the small building will be moved a bit closer to the baseball field, which is not expected to open until 2017. The grounds were seeded last fall and won’t be ready for ball playing until next year.

The redesign of the old building will include adding a second level to create an announcer’s booth big enough to accommodate a few people to keep game stats, he said.

A concession stand will be added. There is not currently any concession stand at the park.

“We’re not talking major money,” he said. “We’re doing the work in-house.”

A new building with bathrooms, a second concession stand, and an outdoor pavilion area is eventually planned at the soccer field, Brasee said.
