This week’s featured Wellington High School band senior is Hannah Lemke, daughter of Justin and Katie Lemke.
She is a two-year field commander for the marching band, and also the brass squad leader and plays the trombone and clarinet.
Lemke is a member of the marching, concert, jazz, and pep bands as well as the percussion ensemble. Her most memorable band experience was receiving a superior rating at the Large Group Concert Band State Contest for the first time as an eighth-grader in the high school band.
She would recommend the band program and specifically marching band because “it teaches great time-management skills. Aside from that, band is kind of like a family. We might argue and disagree sometimes, but we trust each other.”
Lemke plans to attend college and major in music composition. In addition to band, she is active in drama club and the WHS bowling team.
