Black River rocked by student’s death

Staff Report

The Black River community is mourning the loss of one of its own.

On Tuesday afternoon, Jordan Campbell, 17, passed away at his home. Campbell was a senior at Black River High School and a lifelong resident of Sullivan.

“Tuesday afternoon, Black River High School senior Jordan Campbell passed away,” the Black River school district said through a statement on its website. “We are family at Black River, and I know many of you knew Jordan and would like the opportunity to pay your respects.”

Services for Campbell will be held at the Black River Education Center, according to the statement.

“Calling hours will be held here, in the Black River Elementary School Auditorium, this Friday from 5-9 p.m.,” it said. “Please do not use the main auditorium entrance.”

Campbell was a member of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America and was known for his sense of humor, according to the Bogner Family Funeral Home. He was also fond of cooking.

In lieu of flowers, Campbell’s family suggests donations be made to the Jordan Campbell Memorial Fund at any Farmers Savings Bank branch or www.gofundme.com/campbell-family.
