This week’s featured senior is Mackenzie Todten.
She is a squad leader in the percussion section and plays the bass drum. Todten is a member of the marching, concert, and pep bands, as well as member of the percussion ensemble.
Todten is also a first-year member of the Wellington High School student council and has participated in SADD for the past two years. She is a nine-year member of 4-H and this year was named Reserve Supreme Champion with her four-year-old cow.
Todten’s most memorable band moment was getting superior ratings her freshmen and junior years. She would recommend the band program because you meet lots of new people who understand how hard you work and how much dedication it takes to be in band.
Todten would like to thank her family for its non-stop encouragement and support along with the many rides throughout the years. “They are the best and I love them!” she said.
She also thanked band director Tony Novotny for helping her since fifth grade and said that she’s her favorite teacher.
Todten plans to attend Lorain County Community College for two years and then transfer to another university.
