Women’s club launches its 57th season

The Town and Country Club of Wellington will celebrate its 57th year of entertainment on Oct. 3.

The club meets the first Monday of each month from October through May at the Elms community room with most meetings beginning at 7 p.m. Members enjoy a variety of programs scheduled by the program committee, followed by light refreshments.

Town and Country Club has open enrollment for any woman in Lorain County who would like a short evening of entertainment, education, and fellowship. The only requirement besides dues is to help with devotions, or maybe bake cookies once a season on a volunteer basis.

On Oct. 3, members will meet at 6 p.m. at the Wellington Reservation Metro Park on Jones Road for a light chicken salad supper followed by a performance by the Obertones a capella chorus from Oberlin College.

Other programs for the coming season include historian Scott Markle’s portrayal of Archibald Willard and a historical portrayal of Dolly Madison by Diane Stanley.

Membership fees of $20 are due by the Oct. 3 meeting and cover all program costs. There is also a $10 per person charge for the October dinner. Guests may be taken to any meeting for $3 ($10 for the October dinner).

Reservations are required. Call Joann Hamer at 440-647-0330 or Sandy Hurst at 440-647-3347 by Sept. 16.
