The Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative annual meeting and family fun day will be held Tuesday, July 19 at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington.
This is the third year family fun day has been added to the cooperative’s annual meeting format. Children’s games, bounce houses, rides, petting zoo, electric safety demonstrations, and a pony ride will be featured from 1-6 p.m. There will also be wellness displays and member businesses displays. A dinner will be served from 4-6 p.m. and a business meeting will be held at 6 p.m.
The event is open to cooperative members and their families. Registration will open at 1 p.m. All children will be issued wristbands upon registration to take part in youth activities.
Members will elect three people to serve three-year terms on the cooperative’s board of trustees.
Richard K. Indoe, 78, of Harrisville Township, has served as District 9 trustee since 2000. Indoe owns and operates a dairy and crop farm. He is also a Harrisville Township trustee. District 9 includes Chatham, Harrisville, Lafayette, and Westfield townships in Medina County.
Roy R. Norris, 61, of Litchfield Township, has served as District 6 trustee since 2013. Norris is retired. He worked 12 years for WVIZ/PBS Ideastream, serving as the senior director of educational services chief of educational technology and the K-12 services director 1997 to 2003. District 6 includes Grafton Township in Lorain County; and Litchfield, Liverpool, and York townships in Medina County.
Kathleen Norton Fox, 58, of Carlisle Township, is running for her first term as District 3 trustee. She has been a lawyer, CPA for 21 years with Kathleen Norton Fox, attorney and treasurer of Fox Veterinary Hospital for more than 20 years. District 3 includes Carlisle, Columbia, and Eaton townships in Lorain County.
Michael J. Guarino, 70, of Carlisle Township is running for his first term as District 3 trustee. Guarino is a Vietnam veteran. He has been a trust tax officer in the banking industry for 13 years, accountant/auditor and audit manager for the Ohio Auditor of State for 29 years, and financial auditor for the Ohio Casino Control Commission for four years. District 3 includes Carlisle, Columbia, and Eaton townships in Lorain County.
Members no longer vote at the annual meeting. In 2012, the Code of Regulations was changed to permit mail and online voting.
Ballots were mailed to all members in mid-June. In order to be counted, they must be received by 11:59 a.m. Friday, July 15. Members are encouraged to vote online using the cooperative’s secure website, www.lmre.org.
Winners of the election will be announced during the business meeting at the annual meeting.
The 80th annual business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature reports from Lorain-Medina general manager Markus Bryant and board president Rodney “John” Eaton.
