If you’re heading out to Cleveland Great Big Home and Garden Show through Feb. 14 at the IX Center, keep your eyes peeled for the XTEND Technologies entertainment home.

Pepperwood Homes of North Royalton tapped into the talent of several Lorain County JVS carpentry students to help build the house.

They spent several eight-hour days working alongside building professionals in place of attending the JVS on their lab day. The students who got to take part in the experience were required to have outstanding grades, attendance, and attitude and received a strong recommendation from their carpentry instructor, Jason Rodriguez.

“It was an authentic learning opportunity that enabled students to work in a team environment, see some new technology being used, and bring some new skills back to lab to share with their peers,” he said.

“Students did a wonderful job helping to install drywall, trim, flooring and siding,” said Stacey Dasher, office manager for Pepperwood Homes. “Often the students were working under the direction of JVS (alumnus) Alec Goodson, who graduated from the Carpentry Program in 2015.”
