Deborah Melda of Keystone was elected this past Thursday to lead the Lorain County JVS board of education in 2016.
She replaces former president Rex Engle of Amherst, who will now serve as vice president. Melda will also serve on the JVS Educational Foundation and Engle on the JVS board scholarship committee.
Art Goforth of Avon, Gary Wilson of Midview, James Schilens Sr. of Sheffield/Sheffield Lake, Stephen Coleman of Columbia, and Engle were sworn in during an organizational meeting.
The board has set its meetings times and dates for the year: Feb. 18, March 17, April 21, May 19, June 23, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17, and Dec. 15.
The meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. at the JVS interactive video distance learning room (subject to change with notice).
Most meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month with the exception of the June date, which falls on the fourth Thursday of the month.
The board also scheduled a retreat from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 6. The location of this meeting has not yet been announced.
